Ystad, Sweden – September 30, 2023

 

The Ystad International JKA Cup 2023 played host to a remarkable gathering of karate enthusiasts, with a strong contingent from Shobu Ippon Danmark clubs making their mark at this prestigious event. The tournament saw participation from numerous JKA (Japan Karate Association) clubs across Sweden, creating an atmosphere brimming with competition and camaraderie.

Leading the charge from Denmark were Hørsholm Karate Klub and Taifu, collectively bringing nearly 50 competitors, coaches, and parents to the competition. Their efforts did not go unnoticed, as Danish clubs secured an impressive total of 11 medals.

One of the notable aspects of this event was the collaboration between Shobu Ippon Danmark and JKA Sweden, as they demonstrated their commitment to supporting each other’s tournaments and fostering the growth of Shobu Ippon Karate. This partnership also extends to the joint organization of the Nordic Open in Shobu Ippon, showcasing the shared dedication of both countries to promote traditional karate among the Nordic contries.

The tournament featured a wide range of age groups and was spread across four separate areas, with matches taking place from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The high level of competition was evident in the exceptional kata performances, highlighting the dedication and skill of the participants.

The event’s success is attributed not only to the participants but also to the diligent organizers who ensured its smooth execution. As the tournament concluded, many competitors look ahead to the upcoming Nordic Open in Oslo and the highly anticipated 6th Shobu Ippon Tournament scheduled for February 24, 2024, at Hørsholmhallen.
